AFC Newbiggin won the Bay Plastics Combination Cup with a 3-0 win over Ponteland United on Thursday evening at Woodhorn Lane.
The Seasiders deserved the victory in a hard-fought game that saw Brent Aisbitt shoot them in front in the 14th minute.
United were dealt a further set-back on 63 minutes as Jonathon McEnaney doubled Newbiggin’s advantage.
And the silverware was secured with five minutes to go as Michael Hogg headed in a third.
Newbiggin are still looking to secure promotion to the Northern Alliance premier division.
They are currently second behind champions Percy Main with six games to play, two more than nearest rivals Wallsend Boys Club.
