Following the success on the field Bedlington Town Bulldogs Under-12 girls’ team in being finalists in the North England Champions League, they were approached by a local business owner who offered them a sponsorship deal.
Alison Slater, of Bedlington Florists, offered to buy the team new strips.
Alison said: “We were really impressed with the girls’ achievements and wanted to do something to help them continue.
“The strips look great and I’m really pleased with the overall look, being a florist who is interested in football, sponsoring the girls seemed the perfect partnership.
“We watched the girls win their opening game 15-0 last Saturday and can’t wait to go back and support them throughout the season.”
Team manager Michael Third said: “It can be very difficult to raise money for grass roots sport, particularly girls football, it was an unusual but very welcome approach from Alison to sponsor our strips and the link between florist and football works brilliantly with a girls team.
“I hope Alison can come to more games in the future.”
