Ashington U21s are appealing for a shirt sponsor as they prepare for the 2016-17 season getting under way in September.
New coach Jordon Bellamy is hoping a local business will come forward to support the team.
The team will be playing in the Northumberland Under-21 League and will be used as a development squad for Ashington first team, who play their home games on Woodhorn Lane.
Bellamy said: “We’ve found over the last couple of years that once the club’s junior teams finish at under-18s there was nowhere for the players to go and develop, which was leading to them quitting football altogether or moving to other teams.
“Therefore the plan for the under-21s is to keep 18 to 21-years-olds with Ashington Football Club and to hopefully develop them to a standard required for the first team.
“It’s very important to all involved with the club and community that once kids come to Ashington age seven that we keep a hold of them and hopefully reach the first team, this gives hope to the kids and is brilliant for the community.
“All of this unfortunately won’t be possible unless we find a local business who is interested in giving something back to the company by being the club’s shirt sponsor.”
Anyone who can help the team is asked to call Bellamy on 07427 142392.
The club will also be organising trial dates in the near future for anyone between the age of 17 and 21.
