Ashington FC striker Marc Walton is ready for a return to action after being forced to sit out the last six weeks whilst nursing a groin injury.
And the 27-year-old is hoping to hit the goals trail again.
The Newcastle City Council employee admitted at the weekend that frustration had crept in as he has been itching to play.
He said: “I’m now free of injury although not match fit, but I’m hoping to get back in the team.
“This is the longest spell I’ve ever had on the sidelines in my whole career and the last six weeks have been a nightmare because I absolutely hate watching when I could be playing.
“I’ve even returned to action quicker after a couple of hernia operations than with this latest setback.
“It’s been so frustrating.”
Walton hopes to make up for lost time when he returns.
“I always set myself a target of scoring 40 goals a season,” he said.
“I got 39 last term and came so close – and I’ll still be looking to score as many as I can this time round.”
