Ashington Town Central edge out Red Lion Bedlington

In the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League premier division, Ashington Town Central just managed to get the better of Red Lion Bedlington by the odd goal in five.

Goals for Central came from Kevin Chapman (2) and Stephen Frater. Adam Harvey scored both goals for Red Lion.

Forest Hall went down 5-3 at home against Ashington Station Lounge, who had Damien Stevens (4) and Chad Miller on target. Goals for the home side came from Nathan Hewitt (2) and Mathew Kinghorn.

Red Lion Earsdon were hit for eight by visitors Burradon and New Fordley, who had Lee Waugh (3), Josh Miller, Scott Pocklington, Dale Pearson, Callum Colbeck and David Atkinson finding the net.

Division one saw Spring Gardens lose 1-0 to Marden Residents with Stephen Dynes the man on target.

Ashington Sporting Club also went down at home, 3-0 against Cramlington Green. Karl Boughen (2) and Scott Lowrey got the goals.

Guide Post Social Club won 2-0 at home against FC Beacon with Michael Greaves and Andrew McLennan on target.

High Street’s poor start continued when they went down at home 2-0 against Blyth United Services with Gary Adamson and Liam McNally the scorers.

Newsham Victory and Ashington Northern had to content with a point each after playing out a 3-3 draw. Goals for Vic came from David Lillico, Connor Vincent and Jordan Wright. Scoring for Northern was Graeme Buller, Richard Stobbart and Chris Hogg.

The league meeting has been changed to Wednesday, September 16.
