Ashington Town FC is new name for football club

A football club which started out more than ten years ago as AE Phoenix with only one team has a new name.

The club has steadily grown and will start the 2015-16 season with 16 junior teams, which also includes girls teams, and also sees the club move into disability football.

The club also now has two men’s senior teams and will start the new season with a ladies’ senior team.

During the 2014-15 campaign, the committee decided that the club needed to change its name to give it a more professional feel and it was decided to go with Ashington Town Football Club.

Since the club was started in 2005 it has maintained a high standard for all the clubs volunteers to hold correct and updated qualifications.

The club also believes that football is for all and that the most important object is that the young players enjoy the football while they learn.

This work has been recognised by the FA, who have awarded the club the Charter Standard club of the year for the North of England.
