Chances at Churchill playing fields on Sunday fell at both ends before Sarah Taylor drilled home from Laura Fairley’s corner on 20 minutes to put the visitors ahead.

Ashington went close to extending the lead through Emma Ginger and Fairley before the hosts levelled through Moran.

Within minutes of the restart Ashington regained the lead when Fairley stabbed in from close range, and she added a third with a stunning shot on the hour.

Ginger slid in to put Ashington 4-1 ahead before on 80 minutes the home side pulled one back through Macdonald.

However, the Ashington side won the points in their quest for promotion.
