A long-running football league in Northumberland will continue into its 54th year, it has been confirmed.

Last month, concerns were raised about the future of the long-running Morpeth Sunday League, with fears that it was in danger of folding. From having four divisions and 44 clubs in 2004, the league only had 10 clubs in one division last season.

But the League recently held its 53rd annual general meeting and is pleased to announce that, in spite of the diminishing number of clubs, it will continue into the 2015/16 season.

The league is still actively looking for any new clubs who wish to join before the season commences in mid-August. Anyone interested in joining the league should contact the secretary, Alan Parker, on 01670 819459 or the Ppesident, Syd Johnson, on 01670 531224.
