No division one games took place in the Morpeth Sunday League at the weekend as cup games were prioritised while the scheduled game involving Ashington RAOB and Red Row was called off as there was no referee available.
In the Challenge Cup semi-final, Bedlington Barrington Arms defeated Stobswood 3-1 thanks to a David Scott double and a fine strike from Dylan Williamson.
‘The Monkey’ have reached a cup final for a second season in a row and will be looking to go one better this time around.
In the George Cave Cup quarter-final, Amble Tavern recorded a 4-2 win over Alnmouth Argyle thanks to a Josh Hay hat-trick and a solitary goal from Lee Harker. Argyle’s replies were scored by Andrew Wilson and Peter McCaskey.
In division two, league leaders Riverside Lodge played out a hard fought 1-1 draw with HMP Northumberland with both goals coming from the penalty spot. Dan Staples scoring for HMP with Nathan Williamson netting the Riverside response.
North End Trap defeated Amble Blue Bell 5-0 with Marc Nixon grabbing a brace. The other goals were scored by Pete Godfrey, Stu Oman and Ryan Chisholm.
Felton overcame Shakespeare Tavern 3-2 with goals fromNick Moore (2) and Peter Morey. Both of the Shakespeare goals were scored by David Kilpatrick.
