Barrington Arms leave it late to secure final place

In the ES Johnson Challenge Cup semi-finals, Bedlington Barrington Arms progressed to the final after a hard-fought 3-2 win over North End Trap.

‘The Monkey’ had lead 2-0 courtesy of a clinical brace from lively striker Dylan Williamson, but North End got themselves back in the game and levelled the tie with minutes remaining.

But with extra time looming, Barrington grabbed a late winner as David Scott took on a defender finished brilliantly as his shot crashed off the underside of the bar and into the goal.

Joining Barrington Arms in the final will be Amble Tavern as they defeated Stobswood 2-1 thanks to a brace from Josh Hay. The Stobswood goal was scored by Mark Sinclair from the penalty spot.

In the sole division one game, Riverside Lodge battled to a 3-3 draw with Ashington RAOB with goals from Tommy Wilkinson, Connor Oliver and Glen Reardon.

In division two, East Chevington defeated Morpeth Shambles 2-0 with goals from Adam Shanks and John Charlton.

And HMP Northumberland recorded a good 5-0 win over The Elephant.
