In the Morpeth Sunday League ES Johnson Challenge Cup semi-final, Bedlington Barrington convincingly beat HMP Northumberland 7-2 to reach the final.
On target for ‘The Monkey’ were John Paxton, who notched a clinical hat-trick, while Stephen Young helped himself to a brace and the scoring was completed with single goals from Daniel Dargue and Calum Donohoe.
The man of the match for Barrington was Dylan Williamson, who despite not scoring assisted five of the goals with an excellent display.
In division one, Amble Tavern ended Ashington RAOB’s unbeaten league record as they ran out 3-0 winners. Scoring for Amble were Darren Riddell, Matty Graham and Josh Hay.
Stobswood Welfare recorded a 12-1 win over Morpeth Wansbeck with the goalscorers Jake Baker (4), Gary McDonnell (3), Stefan O’Brian (2), Stu Oman, John Spiers and David Curtis. The Wansbeck replies were both scored by Liam Jackson.
Morpeth Shambles defeated Amble Blue Bell 4-2 thanks to a Stu Marshall double and a goal each from Ross Donnelley and Ashley McAlpine. Blue Bell’s scorers were Scott Fulton and David Cambis.
