Bedlington Social Club secure runners-up spot

As the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League season finally drew to a close, Bedlington Social Club finished runners-up in the premier division after their win at Broomhill North End Trap 5-3.

On target for the Trap were Wayne Simpson with a hat-trick. Goals for the Social Club came from Joe Moscrop (2), Craig Webb, Joe Bolam and Scott Marshall.

Division one saw Cramlington Green presented with the league trophy before their game against Spring Gardens. However, they were in party mode as they went down 7-0.

Goals for the Gardens came from Chris Appleby (2), Chris Ardley (2), Barry Buckley, Craig Boyle and Andy McClay.

In the final Ashington derby of the season, Sporting Club were at home against Northern, who won 4-2. Dan Bowey and Adam Ord scored for Sporting Club while John Lewis (2), Richard Stobbart and Lewis Carr were on target for Northern.

Whitehouse Ashington went down at home against Marden Residents 6-2. On target for Whitehouse were Michael Freathy and Richard Hall. Goals for Marden came from Phil McFarlane (2), Stephen Dynes, Chris Ridgway, Ross Seaman and Ryan Smith.

East Chevington won 5-3 at home against FC Beacon. Scoring for East Chevington were Mark Smith, MacAuley Mason, Brad Little, Ben Lilburn and Calvin Baston. On target for Beacon was Jamie Laidlaw, James Gilbert and David Anderson.

The league AGM and presentation night is on Monday, June 6, at 7pm, at New Delaval and Newsham Club.
