Liddane wants to keep continuity at the club and stated that he is not a chairman that likes to keep changing managers.

“We will be sticking with Andy this season and for seasons to come,” he said.

“The club needs to stay together as one.

“The last thing I want to be doing is changing the manager because that gets you nowhere at the end of the day.

“Results haven’t gone our way and it has been a difficult season, but if we go down then Andy will be leading the squad, trying to us get back up.”

The Terriers currently occupy the second spot in the relegation zone and need around 15 points to try and avoid relegation to division two.

General manager Dave Perry, who was chairman at the time when Bedlington won the league title five years in a row, has also given Ferrell his full backing.

“Personally, I haven never looked beyond Andy Ferrell. The club has no intentions of looking past him either,” Perry said.

“Andy is very passionate about football and about Bedlington Terriers. I think he has really tried his best all season.

“Everyone is trying to steer the ship in the right direction. I have spoken to Andy and I didn’t have to mention it, he wants to succeed here at the club.

“It is nice when you like somebody and they are passionate.

“He is looking at the long-term and not the short-term, and he wants to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in.”
