Bedlington Terriers’ relegation fate could be decided on Saturday

Four days of rain took its toll as Bedlington Terriers’ game with Washington at the Nissan Sports Ground on Saturday was postponed.

Despite the efforts of groundstaff and volunteers, a referee’s inspection deemed the pitch unplayable and the fixture list has, once again, had to be reshuffled.

Bedlington will play Consett at Welfare Park this coming Saturday, then Andy Ferrell’s men will to take on title-chasing Shildon, who have all but sealed the championship, on the new date of Tuesday, April 26.

The game with Washington will be played on Saturday, April 30.

Their final game of the season against Marske United has been rearranged for Tuesday, May 3.

Bedlington’s fate may well be sealed this coming Saturday as they now sit nine points from safety, and a defeat against Consett would see them down.

They will be keeping a close eye on the four teams above them, because three of them play this week.
