Blyth Comrades put nine past Lynemouth

With a much reduced fixture list, only one premier division game was played in the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League.

Blyth Comrades had a comfortable 9-1 win at home against Lynemouth Institute. Michael Miens and Antonie Ridle both scored hat-tricks with further goals from Daniel Long, Daniel Carr and Robert Ridley. Eddie Towers scored Institute’s consolation.

In division one, Ashington Excelsior won 4-2 at home against Blyth United Services. Michael Greaves led the scoring for Excelsior with a double. Also on target were Jamie Graham and Martin Kelly. David Knowles and David Long scored for Services.

Ashington White House won by the odd goal in five at home to Blyth Waterloo. Andrew McLennen (2) and Mathew Turner scored for the home side with Kieron Fitzpatrick and Gary Adamson on target for the visitors.

Newbiggin Bankhouse edged visitors Blyth Last Orders 2-1 thanks to goals from Ross Muter and Thomas Stephens. Andrew Farrier scored for Last Orders.

Newsham Victory and Blyth Isabella Colliery shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Darren Philip and David Millin scored for Vic with Neil Brabbs and Scott Jenkinson replying for Isabella.

Stakeford Cherry Tree went down at home against Blyth Sports and Social Club by 3-1. Mathew Wilkinson was on target for Cherry Tree, but goals from Jason Hamilton (2) and Glen Dolmahoy won it.

This Sunday the league has six sides involved in the NFA County Minor Cup, with two drawn against each other. These are High Street and Ashington Grand.
