THE impressive league form of Blyth Spartans Under-16s continued at the weekend with an eye-catching 6-2 win at Wallsend Boys Club.
However, Blyth needed to take this game as a bit of a wake-up call, although the score line looked decent enough.
Blyth started sluggishly, although they were never in danger, and they did go in at half-time 2-1 up.
Thankfully the second half was much better and Blyth knuckled down and listened to their coaches as a ten-mminute spell produced four quick goals to kill off any hopes that Wallsend would hit back.
Man of the match Ayrton Browning found the net twice, with James Gillie, Alex Robinson, Liam Wall and Samuel Johnson, all adding to their season’s totals.
The league remains Blyth’s priority and with some cup games coming up, and having to check if any players are cup tied, this may bring an opportunity to tinker with the squad and try a couple of things to maintain their impressive league form.
