Blyth Spartans striker Dan Maguire has hailed his goal-scoring return to the club and said - “It’s like I’ve never been away”
It has been a good first week of the season for last season’s top goal-scorer who returned to the club after a U-turn on a summer move to Halifax Town.
He made an instant impact coming off the bench in last weekend’s opener at Barwell, winning a penalty that was converted by Stephen Turnbull, before getting the first goal in the dramatic 3-2 win over Whitby Town in midweek.
Saturday saw the pacy frontman get a late winner for Spartans, as they made it three out of three in the league and he was delighted to have done so.
Maguire said: “I had a chance to score earlier on and should have done, but it was great to get the winner.
“It has been good to get a couple of goals, and we now have to take that into Tuesday against Ashton United.
“It is a first midweek away, so we have a good start but there is no reason why we can’t take three points”
And he reflected on his return to the club by simply saying: “It is good to be here, it is like I have never been away really.
“I am just enjoying my football again”
