Blyth Spartans Under-17’s first game of the year resulted in a hard earned and impressive win 4-2 win at Ellington Eagles.
In the top of the table clash it was second placed Spartans who saw off their third placed opponents.
In a tight first half Spartans raced to a two-goal lead through an Ayrton Browning penalty and a goal by Samuel Johnson created by Alex Robinson.
However, by half-time Ellington had battled back and went into the break level.
But it was Spartans who secured the win with second half goals from Johnson, after quick thrown-in by James Golding, and the ever impressive Stephen Dorris.
