Ashington FC’s assistant manager Perry Briggs is under no illusions that Monday’s Ebac Northern League first division derby clash against Bedlington Terriers is going to be anything other than tough.
Looking ahead to the contest, which has an 11am kick-off, Briggs said: “It’s going to be a tough encounter – all derbies are and Terriers boss Ian Skinner will have his side well organised, that’s for sure.
“They have made some decent signings in the summer, but we have got to look to perform to the best of our abilities and if we do that, we will get the right result.”
Lee Scott and Scott Blandford will be fired up to face their former club – with Briggs wishing the duo well on their move to Welfare Park.
“Lee and Scott wanted regular first team football and are two good kids who have served Ashington well,” he said.
“Good luck to them and we wish them well - but there will be no friends on Monday during the 90 minutes.”
