New Hartley Juniors progressed to the semi-final of the Lady Eden Cup with a hard fought win over a Stockton side that beat Hartley 5-2 last month.
Hartley recalled Dean Briggs, who has been with Ashington most of the season, and a master stroke this turned out to be as he netted all three goals for the home side.
Briggs put Hartley one up with a scorching free kick from 25 yards that gave Stockton’s keeper no chance.
His second goal was another long range free kick, and on the hour he raced through to lob the Stockton keeper to complete a superb hat-trick.
Stockton pulled one back through Joe Wheatly and Sonni Coleman made it 3-2 in the dying minutes, but Hartley go into the semi-final, an away trip to Seaham Red Star.
