Comrades win seven-goal thriller against Grand

In division one of the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League, Blyth Comrades and Ashington Grand enjoyed a seven-goal thriller.

Two late goals from Comrades won it, who had Antonie Ridley (2), Dean Fitch and Craig Mitchell on target. Scoring for Grand were David Jones (2) and Luke Bunting.

Wansbeck Flavour Bar went down 4-1 at home to North Shields Royal Arms. Thomas Morgan scored for Flavour Bar but Charlie Thompson (2), Les Thompson and James Ferguson won it.

West Allotment won at home by the odd goal in three against Blyth Last Orders with Iain Finlay and Jed Findlay on target. Martyn Hepple scored the consolation.

In division two, Ashington Portland put seven past Blyth Top House, who scored a consolation through Curtis Miller. Roberts Groves led the scoring for Portland with four whole Graeme Buller (2) and Paul Crate were also on target.

White House Ashington beat FC Beacon 6-1 with goals from David Jobson (2), Ben Davison (2), Joe Turner and Alan Brown. Dominic Gilespie scored for Beacon.

Bay Horse Cramlington lost 5-2 at home to Marden Residents. Michael Jordan and Karl Boughen scored for Bay Horse. Goals for Residents came from Chris Darroll (2), Mark Hunter (2) and Michael Wedderburn.

Blyth Percy Arms beat Forest Hall 1-0 courtesy of a Ross McLoud goal.

Newbiggin Bankhouse went down 4-1 at home to New Delaval and Newsham. Darren Burn scored for Bankhouse. Mark Langlands (2), Mark Baxter and Craig Frazer scored for the visitors.

AE Phoenix continued their winning run with a 4-2 win at Newsham Victory. David Lillico and Scott Douglas scored for Victory, but on target for Phoenix was Michael Freathy (2), Kevin Chapman and Daniel Carr.

Red Lion Earsdon lost at home against Lynemouth Institute 2-0. Marc Richardson scored both goals.
