NEW Hartley Juniors are through to the next round of the Durham County Cup after beating Brandon United 5-0 at the weekend.

It took only five minutes for Hartley to go in front when Dan Taggart’s effort was deflected into the Brandon goal.

Amazingly, the score remained 1-0 for another hour until Dean Briggs’ curling effort from 20 yards put Hartley two up.

Only five minutes later a thunderbolt long range strike from skipper Lewy Davidson made it three.

The holders of this cup made sure they progressed into the next round with Davidson and Taggart both getting their second goals of the game to make the final score 5-0.

New Hartley Juniors next travel to league leaders Ryton on Saturday with a 1.30pm kick-off.
