In round two of the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League George Davison Cup, there were wins for Broomhill North End Trap and Blyth Town Sunday.
Trap won 3-2 at Bedlington Social Club , who had Josh Monaghan on target twice, but scoring for the winners were Kevin Bell, Max Anderson and Jonathan Graham.
Blyth Town Sunday won 2-0 at home against Bedlington Market Tavern with Robert Ridley scoring both goals.
In the quarter-finals of the SA Randolp Cup, Amble Tavern beat visitors Earsdon Red Lion 3-1 with goals from Josh Hay, Brad McClelland and Ethan Iredale. Andrew Smith scored Red Lion’s consolation.
Cramlington Green went down 5-0 at home to Newsham Victory, despite an outstanding display from keeper Ryan Haire. Goals came from David Lillico (3), Daniel James and Dean Linney.
In the Saints Shield quarter-finals for teams in division one, shock of the day was Morpeth Conservative Club beating Marsden Residents 4-3. Morpeth played the whole game with ten players and their scorers were Cameron Lloyd (2), Greg Woodburn and Sam Proudlock. Marc Hunter scored all three Residents’ goals.
Holders High Street also went out at home against Whitehouse Ashington by the odd goal in five. Chris Laidlaw scored both goals for Street but Whitehouse went through with strikes from David Sturgeon (2) and Michael Freathy.
Bebside Inn lost 5-0 at home against Guide Post Social Club, with Adam Mathews (2), Craig Thompson, Andrew McLennen and Mathew Wilkinson the men on target.
Ashington Station Lounge won 4-1 at North Shields Pineapple, who had Nicky Thompson on target, but strikes from Daniel McDonald (2), Richard Stobbart and John Leonard won the tie.
Division one saw Ashington Sporting Club pick up a point at home against Ellington Plough with a 2-2 draw. Robert Watt and Robert Bell scored for Sporting Club while Stuart Packer scored both goals for Plough.
