ASHINGTON supporters will set off for Gloucestershire at 7am on Sunday morning to watch their team in action against Shortwood United.
Executive board member Brian Shotton said: “We are renowned for being a friendly but vocal set of fans and that’s what we intend to be on Sunday.
“Apart from us taking one full coach load of supporters, other fans are making their way to the game by various other forms of transport.
“And we know the role expected of us – we want to give our lads as much encouragement as possible and certainly to be the 12th man.”
Meanwhile, the fans will be forced to change their usual chant of ‘Gary Middleton’s black and white army’ to ‘blue and white’ – as the visitors will be wearing their change strip.
“Shortwood play in red and white stripes so we will wear our sky blue tops with white shorts and blue socks,” said Woodhorn Lane football secretary Gavin Perry.
