Elephant top table after their latest triumph

The MB Socca Leagues continued their six-a-side Thursday night football at the Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington with an evening packed full of action and drama.

In division one, North Seaton Elephant went top after a 2-1 win over Sparta Hatbreath.

North Seaton took a two-goal lead before Sparta pulled one back with ten minutes to go to set up a nervy finish.

The game between FC Base against Multiple Scoregasms looked to be heading for a draw when, in the dying seconds and the game poised at 1-1, Base launched one final attack to grab a last-gasp winner to end the night in second, with Multiple left feeling dejected after appearing to do enough for a share of the spoils.

The other two results saw Real Ashington lose 3-0 to the Biggin before Newbiggin Blaze overcame Newsham 2-1.

Division two saw some fantastic team performances.

None more so than Station Boys, who turned on the style to outclass a shell-shocked Newbiggin Bad Boys 7-0.

A top of the table clash between leaders Station FC and second-placed Lofty’s Ashington All-Stars ended with Station running out comfortable 3-0 winners.

An impressive performance and a superb goal from their star player allowed the Black and Whites – who finished last season second bottom in the division – to put further distance between themselves and All-Stars.

The rest of the games ended with Brazilliant beating The Grand 3-0 and The Doggers edging out A-Town Rangers 1-0.

Teams can still register to play in the MB Socca Leagues as a third division could be introduced by the spring.

Any team registering will also be placed on the waiting list to join divions one or two.
