BLYTH Rangers Valencia Under-16s’ NACYP Cup first round match with Northburn Wanderers was a game of two halves.

Blyth started off the pace and struggled to get any hold on the game in the first half and were three-nil down inside half an hour.

The home side did have chances, though, Andrew Asman’s strike from 20 yards was ruled out for a push in the build up.

In the second half, a change of formation and fighting spirit saw Blyth hit back within five minutes as Liam Sinkinson poked the ball home after some good work down the left.

Carr scored their second shortly after, and with only four minutes to go, Sinkinson’s deflected shoot made it 3-3.

In extra time a Blyth free kick rebounded out to Carr on the edge of the area and his shot went under the keeper.

Rhys Brown had the ball in the net again before the final whistle but it was ruled out for offside.

And in the final minute, Alex Robertson kept Northburn out with a great save.
