Ashington FC manager Steve Bowey was delighted to announce five new signings for the Woodhorn Lane outfit at the weekend.
Bowey has brought in the experienced pairing of Shaun Vipond and Matty Wade as well as winger Sam Norris, midfielder Lee McMahon and forward Jermaine Francois and still has irons in the fire to recruit more.
Bowey said: “It’s been a long process but we are slowly getting there. We are not over with the transfer market yet – I’m hoping to add a new face by Wednesday and I’m also speaking to one or two others towards the back end of the week.
“It’s been a busy period but the outcome is that we have got some quality players and I’m pleased as things are starting to take a little bit more shape.”
Meanwhile plans for a pre season friendly against Fleetwood Town at Woodhorn Lane have been shelved.
