The first games of the season for teams in the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League took place at the weekend in the David Crichton Cup.
Sides are vying for the right to meet the winners of the Cramlington League at a date to be arranged.
In the Blyth quarter-finals there were wins for Ashington Bubbles, Burradon and New Fordley, Blyth Comrades and Cramlington Phoenix.
Bubbles just edged past New Delaval and Newsham by the odd goal in five. Kris Allington started the season well, scoring a hat-trick for Bubbles. James Bell and Jason Quinn scored for Newsham.
Blyth Comrades won with the only goal of the game scored by Terry Self against Red Lion Earsdon.
Cramlington Phoenix went through by the odd goal in seven at home against High Street. Paul Avery, Nicky Jordon, Paul Neilson and Shaun Glendinning were on target for Phoenix.
Burradon won at North Shields Royal Arms 3-0 with goals from Andrew Keenan, Ryan Hutchinson and David Atkinson.
The league season starts this Sunday.
