Getting tight at the top of the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League

In the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League premier division, Amble Tavern closed the gap on the teams above them to within three points.

They beat visitors Bedlington Market Tavern 9-1 with goals from Sean Taylor (4), Josh Hay (2), Liam Brookes, Ethan Iredale and Rikki Hume. Kevin Halliday scored for Tavern.

Ashington Town Central put up a fine performance at home against Newsham Victory but went down 7-4. Michael Todd scored all four for Central. On target for Newsham were Craig Frazer (4), Daniel James (2) and David Lillico.

In division one, Ashington Sporting Club lost 3-2 to a late High Street goal. Calum Mulligan and Luke McMahon scored for the home side with Eoin Ridley, Chris Laidlaw and Daryl Gallon finding the net for High Street.

Bebside Inn also left it late to win at home by the odd goal in seven against Guide Post Social Club. On target for Bebside were Martin Robinson (2), Jason Hamilton and James More. Goals for Social Club came from Mathew Wilkinson (2) and Daryl Wood.

Ellington Plough won 3-0 at home against North Shields Pineapple with goals from Max Robinson (2) and Jack Philips.

Guide Post Shakespeare Tavern lost 5-3 to visitors Whitehouse Ashington. Robert Sharp, Ian Jackson and Ethan Page scored for Tavern. Michael Freathy (3), Curtis Bell and Michael Grieves found the net for Whitehouse.
