MANAGER Gary Middleton believes Ashington CFC’s FA Cup tie against Guiseley at Woodhorn Lane on Saturday presents a great challenge.
Middleton said: “We’ll prepare in the way which we always do now that the league have sanctioned that we have a free week.
“I’ll be speaking to a few managers and get some reports on Guiseley and take it from there.
“It’s a fantastic cup tie for the town and we deserve to be there.
“We’ve had tough games to get where we are and we’re looking forward to it just as you would expect.
“It’s a massive game in prospect.
“Guiseley are a very good footballing team sitting third in the Blue Square Bet North league – and are an outfit who reached the league play-off final last season so they have lots to offer.
“However, the game presents a great challenge to us the management team and also the players, and we need the supporters to turn out in force to try and make that extra man count. That could be vital.”
With three major injuries Middleton’s slection options been drastically reduced over the past weeks but he knows his squad will give their all in their attempts to reach the fourth qualifying round.
If the game ends all square after 90 minutes, the replay will take place at Guiseley’s Nethermoor Park ground on Tuesday, October 18, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Ashington already have a League Cup game at home to Chester-le-Street scheduled for the same evening but the FA Cup replay would take precedence.
