A DISCIPLINED and composed performance saw Morpeth Sporting win 3-0 at Newcastle East End on the opening day of the Northern Alliance Football League.
After the early exchanges, Morpeth took control of the game.
They took the lead with a penalty converted by Rob Haney on the half hour after Chris Musgrave surged into the box and was brought down under a heavy challenge.
The second half saw the visitors continue to dictate the pace of the game with Michael Starkie doubling the advantage on 60 minutes with a controlled strike from inside the box.
And with the game coming to its conclusion Tom Inglis sent in a quality cross from the right which Haney finished off for his second goal.
A well deserved win based on a team performance from front to back.
