NEW Hartley Juniors, playing their eighth game in 12 days, went nap against second placed Redcar on Saturday.
Having already bagged three points against Cowgate in midweek this meant that Hartley needed to beat their nearest rivals to be in with a shout of finishing runners-up in the Durham County Youth League.
The two sides met in last month’s Durham FA County Cup final with Hartley winning 4-2, but in the latest league game Redcar were no match for the Northumberland side.
Peter Ravenhill broke the deadlock on 20 minutes and the same player put Hartley two up on the half hour.
After the break, Hartley pulled further away, first David Luke made it three from the penalty spot then winger Sam Norris made it four and sub Brad McClellend rounded off the scoring with a close range header to make it 5-0.
On Wednesday New Gartley are in the NFA Junior Cup final at Blue Flames against Cowgate with a 7pm kick-off.
Then on Saturday they make the trip to Redcar in the league and on Monday, May 21, it is Hartleys third cup final of the season when they take on Ryhope at Jarrow Roofing’s ground with a 6.30pm kick-off.
