NEW Hartley Juniors retained the Northumberland FA Junior Cup for the fifth year running, adding it to the Durham County Youth Cup won last month.
Having beating Cowgate 2-1 in a league fixture last week, a hard game was expected at Whitley Park, but Hartley comfortably ran out 4-0 winners thanks to a Marc Heaman hat-trick.
Heaman got his first with a close range header after Sam Norris struck the bar.
Midway through the second half Heaman got his second and minutes later a great run and burst of pace from Peter Ravenhill saw him slot home to put Hartley three up.
There was no way back for Cowgate and Heaman completed his hat-trick to give Hartley their second piece of silverware of the season.
On Saturday Hartley have a home league fixture with a noon kick-off before they travel to Bishop Auckland on the Monday night.
The team to triumph in the final was Kyle Barnard, Josh Day (Dan Hall), Nathan Johnston, Laim Gillespie (Kyle Downie), Reece Farrell, Marc Heaman, Laim McNamarra, Dave Luke, Sam Norris, Peter Ravenhill, Johnny Lowes (Brad McClelland).
