Isabella and Town suffer cup defeats

BLYTH Isabella’s Tyneside Amateur Challenge Shield bid came to an end at the quarter-final stage at the weekend.

They lost 3-1 at the hands of West Jesmond with Kris Allington scoring their consolation.

Blyth Town Reserves will look to book their semi-final place in the competition when they play Grainger Park on Saturday.

They were in action in the Ideal Stelrad Northumberland FA Minor Cup, suffering a heartbreaking 8-7 defeat on penalties to Northern Alliance division one outfit Newcastle University, after a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes.

The other two Shield ties saw Cullercoats Reserves and Newcastle Medicals go through.
