ASHINGTON Ladies continued their quest for the championship with a convincing win against Blakelaw at Pegswood Welfare on Sunday.

The Angels were on top when Danni Clasper scrambled in from close range on 21 minutes.

Clasper added a second minutes later with a well struck shot from just inside the box, then Meghan Tighe, Cory Murphy, Laura Jobson and Clasper all rained in shots which were off target before Jess Hooper – standing unmarked in the box – slotted home from Rebecca Caldow’s cross for Ashington’s third.

Karen Wright struck home the fourth with a well taken shot then Hooper supplied a perfect pass for Tighe who rifled home.

The visitors pulled a goal back from Megan Coulter before Ashington’s Wright missed from five yards out.

However, the Angels added their sixth when from a cross by Tighe, Kristie Fenwick applied the finishing touch.

Jobson unleashed a shot to make it seven and Jobson’s pass to Fenwick saw the latter rifle in the eighth.
