ASHINGTON Ladies extended their unbeaten league run to 17 games with a convincing win to keep them two points clear of Lowick at the top of the table.

The Angels dominated and Karen Wright stabbed home after ten minutes after her initial shot had been saved by Anne-Marie Peart.

Several chances were spurned by Laura Jobson, Wright and Georgia Latto, and Peart made two stunning saves from Jobson and Wright.

Just before half-time, Laura Powell in the Ashington goal made a cracking save, touching over a stunning shot from Hall.

Ashington came out after the break on top and Jobson came close on two occasions before another shot by her came off the bar to the unmarked Meghan Tighe who rammed home Ashington’s second.

Shortly after another shot by Kristie Fenwick cannoned off the bar and Holly Sayer stabbed in to notch her first goal for the club.

Ashington Ladies: Powell, Ginger, Bolton, Kavanagh, Murphy, Caldow, Fenwick, Latto, Tighe, Wright, Jobson. Subs: Hogg, Sayer.
