Ladies stay top after beating Medics

ASHINGTON CFC Ladies remain top of the league after a convincing win over Newcastle Medics at the Walbottle Campus on Sunday.

New signing Georgia Latto made her debut and in the first minute narrowly missed opening her account.

Stacey Naples went close and Emma Ginger headed just over before on 15 minutes a Latto cross was cleared by the home defence which Kristie Fenwick latched onto to slam home the opener.

Laura Jobson then hit the bar before Latto scored after latching onto a through ball from Naples.

On 33 minutes Laura Powell in the Ashington goal make a cracking double save on a rare home attack then Naples and Karen Wright both went close before Jobson headed home after Meghan Tighe’s effort had been saved.

Jobson scored the fourth early in the second half and completed her hat-trick with the fifth.

On Sunday Ashington Ladies are at home to Prudhoe Town at Woodhorn Lane in the Northumberland Senior Cup. Kick-off 2pm.
