New Hartley advanced to the quarter-finals of the John Maley League Cup with a late winner against Benfield.
New Hartley started well in a tough and frantic first 20 minutes, going close on a couple of occasions.
Good work by Lewis Xiberras in the 25th minute led to a poor clearance by Benfield and Jack Cooper struck from 25 yards out to put Hartley ahead.
New Hartley started the second half the better, and for the first 20 minutes were on top, but Benfield who came alive, putting pressure on the New Hartley back four, having one cleared off the line and numerous corners.
It was no surprise when Benfield snatched a close range equiliser from captain Hayne Walton in the 84th minute.
But Hartley were not to be denied and it was Xiberras who turned and fired his side into a quarter-final tie at home to Durham City with an 88th minute winner.
New Hartley and Benfield also meet in the NFA County Cup Final on Monday, April 24, kick-off 7pm at Blue Flames.
They then meet again in the Durham FA County Cup Final on Saturday, May 14, at Perth Green, Jarrow, kick-off 1.30pm.
