Lavery appeal for volunteers

ASHINGTON CFC chairman Ian Lavery has called a special meeting to be held in the Woodhorn Lane clubhouse on Sunday to establish a community volunteer force for the club.

Mr Lavery said at the weekend: “It is time we had a band of volunteers who would be prepared to muck in not just on match days but throughout the season in order that we can run the club both efficiently and effectively.

“We need people who would be prepared to give up there time to assist the club and I hope the meeting on Sunday at 11am will be well attended.

“It will offer potential volunteers the opportunity to discuss with club officials how they could commit themselves and it is also a call for people to suggest new ways of doing things at Woodhorn Lane.”

An executive board took over the running of the club almost three years ago.

But Mr Lavery has stressed the need for “extra assistance” as the outfit cast their eyes towards an even brighter future.
