Morpeth Town’s hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Carlsberg Vase have not escaped the attentions of Ian Lavery, MP for Wansbeck and chairman of Ashington CFC.
So much so that Laver,y speaking in a duel capacity, has sent the Craik Park outfit a good luck message ahead of their trip to face Eastbourne United on Saturday.
He said: “Morpeth Town have been through some very difficult times over the past few seasons and with the continued hard work and commitment from Ken Beattie and his small team are now back in the top flight of the Ebac Northern League.
“Not only that but they are the only Wansbeck team remaining in the Vase this season and every one at Ashington CFC as well as myself are fully behind them and wish them every success in the competition.”
He continued: “Ken Beattie has been at the heart of Morpeth Town for longer than I care to remember with plenty of success in that time, and I sincerely hope he can add to the good times he has already enjoyed at the club with a good result on Saturday.”
