The Morpeth Sunday League no longer have any teams competing in the NFA Sunday Cup after Amble Tavern and The Wharton Arms both crashed out of the competition at the weekend.

Amble were edged out 3-2 by Wallsend Rising Sun with Brad McClelland on target twice for Tavern.

Wharton were level at 2-2 with Wylam FC after extra time after Joe Moscrop got both their goals. But they lost the resulting penalty shoot-out 5-3.

In division one, Bedlington Barrington picked up a good 5-1 away win against Morpeth Shambles. Dylan Williamson netted a clinical hat-trick, youngster Chris Coe finished well when put through against the goalkeeper and the final goal of the contest was a real cracker as Barrington player Calum Donohoe curled in a free kick from the edge of the area with the ball finding the net via the inside of the left post.

Stobswood overcame HMP Northumberland 3-2 thanks to a goal each from Mark Sinclair, Robert Baker and Stephen Gibbard.

Morpeth Wansbeck FC picked up a point as they drew 1-1 with Alnmouth Argyle. Wansbeck had been trailing but they levelled things up with a long-range screamer from Blaine Evans. Andrew Clouston also saved a penalty for Wansbeck to keep them in the game.

Amble Blue Bell recorded a 4-1 victory at home to Bedlington FC.
