Long season comes to a close in Sunday league

The curtain came down on a long season in the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League with the final three games played.

In the premier division, Blyth South Beach CC took runners-up spot with their 5-3 with at home against Ashington Bubbles. Liam McKee and Lee Seller scored twice with Daniel Wardle adding the other from the penalty spot. Goals for Bubbles came from Daniel Hislop (2) and Andrew Davison.

Burradon and New Fordley brought the curtain down on another successful season by brushing all contenders aside, with only South Beach taking a point off them.

On Sunday they ended Broomhill North End Trap’s chance of finishing second with a 6-0 win. On target were Michael Chilton (2), David Atkinson, Lee Waugh, Andrew Keenan and Connor Andrews.

Division one saw the top two face each other with Red Lion beaten by a last minute penalty by division champions Blyth Last Orders’ normal keeper David Hansen.
