Two former clubs of England Women’s footballer Lucy Bronze will play against each other in a friendly on Tuesday, August 4, at Alnwick Town.
The U13 girls of Blyth Town FC Barca have been invited up to Alnwick Town Juniors to play against their U14 girls.
Both teams are proud of Bronze’s career and that she was widely seen as England’s best player in the recent Women’s World Cup in Canada.
She also managed to score one of the best goals of the tournament as well as a header in the quarter-final.
Girls’ football is on the increase in the region with both teams taking part in their respective age groups of the Pinpoint Recruitment Northumberland Girls League.
The girls of Barca and Alnwick are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their local hero who has made it all the way from playing for these two clubs to the heights of the World Cup.
Kick-off is at 6.30pm and supporters are welcome to attend Alnwick Town’s St James Park ground at Greensfield.
