New Hartley Juniors travelled to South Shields in the league expecting a real tough encounter, and this is exactly what they got.

Hartley started sluggishly after three weeks off and the home side looked the more determined in the first 40 minutes.

They pressed well and took the lead on the half hour before the visitors got into the game and a spectacular equiliser by in-form striker Ryan McKie levelled the contest just before half-time.

The second half saw New Hartley pick up and create a few chances before once again McKie was on hand with a neat finish after a through ball by Lewis Xiberas to put Hartley 2-1 up.

The visitors looked stronger in the second half with captain Callum Uddgren working tirelessly in midfield, well abled by another strong performance by centre backs Jake Dutton and Kurtis Dodds.

New Hartley kept creating chances to take the three points and remain unbeaten in 12 games this season, 11 of which were wins.
