The home side included several Durham county players in their line-up, but it was New Hartley’s Northumberland county players who starred.

Hartley started well, closing down and passing the ball around confidently, and after hitting the post from 25 yards out, it was McKie who put them ahead on 42 minutes.

Then just before half-time a great through ball by Paddy Gibbons put McKie through to finish well.

An injury to Reece Charlton saw him leave for hospital. but Hartley started the second half really well again.

Jake Dutton and Kurtis Dodds were outstanding at the back, supported by Callum Morgan and Jay Hornsby. In midfield, Jack Cooper and captain Callum Uddgren dominated.

It was no surprise when McKie completed his hat-trick on the hour after great work by Oscar Stone.

New Hartley will play now Benfield FC in the Durham County Youth Cup final, with the two sides also due to meet in the Northumberland County Youth Cup final.

On Saturday, New Hartley are at home in a top of the table clash against Darlington Youth, kick-off 1.30pm.
