GARY Middleton admitted that his Ashington side had the chances to kill off Saturday’s FA Cup extra preliminary round tie against Sunderland RCA.
But in the end, he felt it was one mistake which cost them victory.
“At half-time we spoke about wanting to increase the tempo – but I didn’t think we did that, which suited RCA.”
Middleton acknowledged the visitors refused to give in with ten men – and also capitalised on an error by keeper Karl Dryden.
“Give Sunderland RCA their due, they kept going and threw everything at us, and in the end, one mistake by Karl has cost us because he dropped the ball.
“We were in no danger throughout but once again that’s football and we have got to move on.”
