Middleton wants massive improvement against North Shields

Ashington FC manager Gary Middleton has called for a massive improvement from his side ahead of Saturday’s home clash against neighbours North Shields at Woodhorn Lane.

Middleton was a forlorn figure as he emerged from the dressing rooms at the King George V ground on Saturday after his side had been soundly beaten 4-0 by Guisborough.

He said: “We will have to be a lot better than what we have been today if we are to have any chance of getting a result against the Robins.

“And we will also need to improve on our recent display and subsequent 3-2 defeat at the Daren Persson Stadium, that’s for sure.”

Middleton, who again must reckon without joint strikers Glen Taylor and Tony Stephenson through suspension, will continue to look for new additions to the squad.

“I have been trying for weeks to bring new players in,” he said.

“And that search will continue this week.”
