Morien, from North Shields, scored more than 100 goals in 67 games in the league.

Having previously played for Blyth Town in the Northern Alliance, Morien said he feels like he has “come home”.

“The only reason I left Blyth Town previously was to progress my career up the league,” he said.

“Now that Blyth Town was able to qualify for the promotion into the Northern League thanks to all of the investment ploughed in, I am keen to help them all I can and be a part of a team who works together to keep achieving promotion.

“For me, being part of a team isn’t about money or contracts, it is about being with your teammates and playing for a squad and a club that you really believe in, and I am excited for where Blyth Town can go not only in this league, but further up the football pyramid in years to come.”

Previously with Dunston FC in division one of the Ebac Northern League, Morien broke the goal scoring record of the league last season with 37 goals.

Blyth Town first team manager Mick Connor said: “I love seeing Malky back in a Blyth Town top – it is where he belongs and he is a phenomenal player and we are all over the moon to have him back with us to strengthen the squad even further.

“I believe he has the potential to score many goals for us for the rest of the season and help us bring in those well needed points.”

Morien made his return debut at home against Willington FC last Saturday where Blyth Town won their tenth game of the season with a 5-1 victory.

They take on Brandon United away on Saturday before entertaining Billingham Synthonia on Wednesday, November 2, at 7.30pm.
