Mortimer fire eleven past Community in cup match

IN the second round Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League George Davison Cup there were victories for Ashington Mortimer, Whitley Lodge Kittiwake, Monkseaton Arms and Blyth South Beach.

Ashington Mortimer won 11-2 at second division Bedlington Community.

Mortimer had Brent Asibitt in sparkling form with five goals.Jason Riches scored a hat-trick plus goals from John Gall (2) and Daniel Donnelly. On target for the home side were Richard Stobbart and Michael Robinson.

Blyth Ridley Park were no match for Kittiwake, going down 7-2. Goals for Ridley came from Alan Fairbairn and a Stephen Riddell penalty. Kittiwake’s scorers were Daniel Sneap (2), Simon Gourlay (2), Jonny Storrey, Steven Patterson and Chris Atkin.

Monkseaton Arms were taken to extra time in their game at home against Ashington White House.

With the scores level 4-4 at the end of 90 minutes, it was a goal from Cameron Fyvie that settled the tie. On target for White House were Shaun Dodds (2), John Appleby and Steven Rennison.

In round two of the Alan Davison Cup, there were away victories for High Street and New Delaval and Newsham.

High Street won 7-1 at Marden Residents with goals from Jason Smart (2), Anthony Goldie (2) and Anthony Marshall (2), and Steven Brown.

First division New Delaval and Newsham turned their league form upside down with a win at premier division side The Eagle, progressing with a 5-2 win.

On target for Eagle was Jeff Fuller and Daniel Hislop. Goals for the Newsham side came from Dean Shortt (2), Paddy Allen, Daniel Mann and James Arkless.

In the premier division, Burradon and New Fordley proved to strong for the Milbourne Arms, beating their hosts 6-0 thanks to goals from Steve Howes (2), David Atkinson (2), Paul Wilary and an own goal.

Whitley Bay Seahorse and Newbiggin shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Paul Cooper and Ashley Smyth scored for Newbiggin.

In division one Ashington Grand came from two goals down at home against Cowpen Percy Arms to snatch a dramatic. Goals for Grand came from Paul Hedley (2) and Luke Bunting. Paul Huck scored both Percy’s goals.

North Shields Royal Arms hit the winning trail in division two thanks to a 5-1 win at Ashington Bubbles, who had Kris Allington on target.

Ashington Central won 3-2 at home against West Allotment courtesy of Ryan Chisholm, Jason Wilson and Mark Taylor.

Ashington Grand Street and New Hartley played out a 2-2 draw. Chris Hogg scored two for Grand Street with Paul Noble doing like wise for New Hartley.

On Sunday, Burradon and New Fordley take on Billy Mill in the final of the David Crichton Cup at Bedlington Terriers at 2pm.

On Friday, the junior version of the same competition will also be played at Bedlington with a 7pm start. All proceeds go to charity.
