New manager Gary Innes expressed his delight after Bedlington Terriers beat Billingham Synthonia 2-1 on Saturday in his first game in charge.
He said: “Every single player did exactly what I asked of them, I couldn’t fault anything.
“This is the first win for me, so the standards have been set and it’s up to me to keep them standards.”
Stephen Young bagged a brace before the Synners pulled one back late in the game.
The Bedlington man took both of his goal really well to Innes’ delight.
The Consett-born manager added: “Stephen Young took both of his goals really well, but everyone played a massive role in the win over Billingham.”
Bedlington’s new manager thought his side “thoroughly deserved” the win because they defended better, worked as a team and took their chances well when they came.
The Terriers now go into a run of seven straight games against top opposition, with the trip to Newcastle Benfield coming up on Saturday.
Innes added: “We have some really tough games coming up, but I believe I have the squad to cope with those games. I love a test.”
